Hi there! Welcome to Sweat for Sweets! This blog follows my adventures to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle. You see, I have an over-active sweet tooth (seriously, it’s a problem – I often have to restrain myself from consuming chocolate before 10 AM). Luckily, I ALSO enjoy working out and cooking healthy meals. I’m also a bit of a nutrition dweeb, so I like to constantly learn about the science behind what we put in our bodies.
I’m so excited to be able to share my passion of cooking, working out, and nutrition with you .. and have a little fun along the way
I’ll be sharing my recipes, meal plans, discussing any nutrition questions you may have and share a ton of dynamic & fun workouts! I’m a big proponent of making health an absolute priority, because without it, life just isn’t as fun! I believe in making healthy choices and committing to an active lifestyle, but all with BALANCE in mind. After all, life is meantto be enjoyed. (I would like to eat that cupcake – it’s bigger than my face!)
The Girl behind Sweat for Sweets
My name is Ashley and I’m a 23-year-old working and living in Toronto, Canada with my boyfriend & best friend! I grew up in a beautiful suburban community on Lake Ontario right outside of the city.
Growing up, I didn’t have such a strong interest in health & fitness. Though I was on the tennis team & did competitive dance and swimming, I didn’t ever really “work out” in high school, nor did I have any idea of what constituted healthy eating. I have a specific memory of asking a friend of mine what a calorie was. Ha. My passion for health really began at university. Throughout my undergraduate career, I developed a keen interest in nutrition and fitness. Though I probably would have gone another route with my university career had I developed these interests earlier, I was very fortunate to be able to take a ton of classes on fitness, health/epidemiology and nutrition. Plus, a business degree never hurt anyone
Throughout my time in the business program, I also began to realize that I wasn’t meant to work in the “traditional” business world of finance, accounting, marketing, etc. I decided that I wanted to do work that really meant something to me and that I had an emotional attachment to; something I could feel good about doing every single day. I had volunteered all throughout high school and was always involved with the charitable sector, but had never thought about it as a career path. I then started learning more and realized that there is a lot of opportunity in the not-for-profit sector. Since graduation, I’ve been working for a not-for-profit organization and have loved every minute of it!
Though I’m 100% happy in my day job, I’ve still always had a burning passion for being more directly involved in fitness/nutrition. My hope is that this blog will be useful to you and also act as an outlet for me to express my enthusiasm for all things health-related!
Enjoy !

I’m glad I found your blog! I really like it
Aw thank you so much! That means a lot
I completely agree that health should be a priority – always! If you don’t have your health, then how can you really enjoy life? And you’re right – it’s all about balance and moderation!
P.S. You’re gorgeous!

Very cute blog and I’m looking forward to reading it
That’s really cool that you didn’t continue on with the business world and went into non-profit. One of my friends did something similar and she loves every minute of it. It’s all about what you love ^^
